Sponsoring Independent Drinks Retailer of the Year
We get on with all the UK-off trade in all its many manifestations that's why our beer is everywhere. However we have a particular soft spot for the independent and that's why we are sponsoring the independent retailer of the year category yet again. It's an obvious decision for a brewery like ours whose history has been one long fight to keep its independence from the big beasts that stalk the corporate drinks business jungle.
We need to keep that independence in order to continue to brew beer of the highest quality and unchallenged excellence in the way our brewmaster decrees, not in the way some anonymous suit demands. We don't want to end up in a global's portfolio as a "virtual" brand. We recognise that the UK's independent retailers face similar challenges but at the same time can derive enormous pleasure, as we do at Budvar, from success, from celebrating the success of your own ideas against the corporate odds.
You have to be seriously good to survive as an independent in today's drink business. You have to have a vision that is different from the biggest players and the will and determination to make it work. We hope you will be there at the OLN awards to join with us in feting these talented individuals. They deserve it.

Multi Gold Award-winning Glengoyne is one of the leading premium malt whiskies in the world and has been distilled at Glengoyne distillery since 1833. The Glengoyne portfolio consists of the 10 Years Old, 12 Years Old, 12 Years Old Cask Strength, 17 Years Old , 21 Years Old and Vintage 1972 as well as other limited edition special bottlings.
Glengoyne Distillery, Scotland's most southerly Highland distillery, is situated in a wooded glen, just 30 minutes from Glasgow, at the start of the stunning West Highland Way and looking out over the Trossachs and Loch Lomond.
Glengoyne Highland Single Malt is distilled slower than any other Scotch whisky. Its high quality and smooth taste is attributed to this slow distillation, which is about one third the normal rate. SLOWLY distilling the spirit allows more contact with our copper pot stills, encouraging the formation of esters which creates Glengoyne's distinctive apple fruitiness.
The same traditional methods and basic ingredients have been used for over 175 years at Glengoyne distillery, handcrafted over the generations. Glengoyne uses only air-dried malted barley, rather than barley dried using harsh peat smoke, allowing the flavours to freely express themselves, the real taste of malt, without being overwhelmed and giving Glengoyne its fresh, subtle taste.
The final character of this unique single malt comes from the specially selected Spanish and American oak casks, seasoned with sherry in Spain. Glengoyne slowly extracts many unique flavours during the ten years or more in which it is maturing in the distillery's traditional dark airy dunnage warehouses. The milder climate of the southern Highlands also affects the maturing whisky over time, resulting in the smoother, lighter, yet complex taste that is firmly associated with Glengoyne.
Only the SLOWEST distillation process, untainted by peat smoke creates Glengoyne.
For more information on Glengoyne visit: www.glengoyne.com
For further details on stocking Glengoyne, please contact Neil Boyd , UK Commercial Director and Alan Wardrop, UK Sales Manager, Ian Macleod Distillers, 01506 852205.
The best way to appreciate the quality of Glengoyne is to drink it SLOWLY. Sit back, relax and savour the subtle flavours. Glengoyne should never be rushed. Always drink responsibly.

Cider is a way of life in Sweden, in fact, it is believed Scandinavia is the original home of cider. In 1882, 36 local brewers in the Swedish town of Kopparberg amalgamated to form Kopparberg's Bryggeri AB. Today the company is led by the Brothers Peter and Dan-Anders Bronsman, while production itself takes place under the strict supervision of our Brew Master Wolfgang and his apprentices - sons Raynhardt and Rickhard. Like all Swedes, they believe in the virtues of simplicity and uncomplicatedness and this is reflected in the cider of which they're so proud.
We're delighted to be sponsoring the Multiple Cider Retailer of the Year at the OLN Awards. Good luck to all the nominees.
