After the entry deadline, the entries are divided into two groups, independent and multiple and judged using difference processes. Each category has its own set of criteria which can be viewed by clicking here. To make sure that you have the best chance of winning read this carefully prior to entering.
The judging process for the multiple categories has been developed to make it even more rigorous and to enable us to get a greater knowledge of the businesses who enter - and why they deserve to win.
An initial shortlist will be drawn up based on entrants' responses to the entry form. Those shortlisted will then be asked to take part in a short interview about their entry, which will enable us to better understand their approach and how it differs to the competition.
The third, and final stage of the process, will then take place, as a panel of experts in each field meet to discuss the shortlisted entries and hear feedback from the interviews to arrive at a conculsion about this year's winners.

As these are so specialist it was felt by the team that these entries require a different judging process. Therefore on the close of entries the Off Licence News team do an initial judging to determine the initial shortlist in each independent category.
Following this each retailer is visited by an independent judge in order to verify the standard of retailing. Once all the store visits are completed the judge then reports his findings back to a final judging panel where the winners are decided.

To be a winner you will have worked hard to understand your market and will have a service that rises above the norm. To sum up we are looking for winners who can act as an inspiration to the rest of the drinks trade. Also all finalists are invited to attend the awards as guests of Off Licence News. Plus for all independent finalists there is a paid-for overnight stay at a London Hotel!
All winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Tuesday 4, February 2014 at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane.
